    Since 2004, there have been 635 opioid-related deaths of children and teens, ages 10-17 reviewed by CDR teams.  This Quick-Look will provide further detail about our data.

  • Quick Look: Infants Born Prematurely

    The National Center for Fatality Review and Prevention collects information on infants born prematurity from the NFR-CRS. From 2004-2016, there have been over 145,400 child death cases reviewed and entered into the NFR-CRS by participating by teams.  This Quick-Look describes over 38,600 infants born prematurely, between 20 and 37 weeks gestation, who died before their first birthday.

    The National Center for Fatality Review and Prevention collects information on infants who died from child abuse and neglect from the NFR-CRS. From 2004 to 2017 there have been over 4,600 child abuse and neglect deaths among infants reviewed and entered in the CRS by participating teams. This Quick-Look describes infants who died before their first birthday.
