Since 2005, the National Center Steering Committee has provided expert guidance and other support to the National Center for Fatality Review and Prevention. By learning together, we strengthen our collective capacity to unlock lessons from preventable deaths.

Members of the National Center Steering Committee are experts in key areas, including health care, mental health services, maternal health, infant health, child safety, family services, military family services, and more.

Steering Committee members expand the capacity of the National Center and serve as our partners in problem-solving by:

  • Translating local, state, and tribal nation fatality review recommendations into national-level recommendations for child wellbeing, community safety, violence prevention, suicide prevention, and more.
  • Building and strengthening partnerships to improve community health and safety.
  • Helping the National Center improve our resources, products and services.
  • Sharing findings and recommendations with others working to help communities celebrate more birthdays.
